I loved Westover (graduated in 2008). Best place and experience. I would want my daughters to go here. Great science and engineering choices. I loved that I got the chance to do pottery and all kinds of art there too

I wholeheartedly disagree with the previous review of Westover. I cannot speak to the ethos of the school thirty years ago, but I did graduate within the past five years, and in my experience, Westover is an inclusive, warm, and diverse community - a true gem among New England prep schools. The all girls environment is nurturing, the academics are unparalleled (I found my first year of college to be quite easy after my junior and senior year at Westover), and the emphasis on tradition is formative and becoming increasingly rare. I do not come from a wealthy family, and was given a tremendously magnanimous scholarship to attend; I never felt ostracized for not being wealthy. I am now the first person in my immediate family to graduate from college, and will continue to build upon my Westover foundation in everything I do.

My 3 years at Westover School were the most positively transformative years of my young adult life. This school sets the gold standard for high school education while encouraging the social, charitable and independent development of the girls that attend the institution. The broad geographic, cultural and socioeconomic diversity of the student body adds to the richness of the learning and living environment in a meaningful way that many other schools overlook. My classmates and I graduated Westover remarkably well-prepared not just for college success, but for life. I can't say enough positive things about Westover School and marvel at the compassionate and concerned, globally-minded young women the school consistently graduates.

I absolutely disagree with the first review as well. I had the best experience at Westover. I never regretted going to Westover and having the best experience I could have ever wished for. I have never seen a case when the girls gang up on one particular classmate just because of their economic status or social status. I have graduated Westover within the recent 5years and I was at Westover from the very first day of my freshman year until the last day of my senior year. Westover has taught me so many valuable lessons such as friendship, cooperation, respect and responsibility. The faculties were extremely nice and helpful. I am an international student and there was no single short break such as long weekend or Thanksgiving that I felt lonely because of the kindness the faculties and classmates have shown me by inviting me over to their houses.I was always invited to their dinner parties or thanksgiving dinners. Westover is like a home to me and whenever I think back of Westover, the good memories still make me smile. I am planning on going back to Westover sometime soon and I am definitely going to give back more than I have gained from them.

My brief attendance at Westover was one of the worst experiences of my life. If you weren't wealthy and didn't grow up with the other girls at the school, there was no chance of being treated kindly by them or much of the staff. Within the first few weeks I was there, I got expelled. I did my best to assimilate and make friends. The "friends" that did speak to me belittled me for not being rich or having nice clothes, for not being from Connecticut, and ultimately got together in a group to conspire and lie to get me thrown out of the school. I tried to defend myself against the accusations, but once again, I had not grown up in the area with the elite families. Now that I am grown, there is no way I would ever send my child to this school. The teachers were adequate, but I wouldn't want my child to see that materialism, insincerity, deviousness and elitism are acceptable modes of behavior and thought to hold dear.
